Introduction
Ever wished you could brew coffee without any fancy gear? The Channi Grind method is perfect. Using just coarse-ground coffee, hot water, and a tea strainer (channi), you can make a delicious, aromatic cup in minutes. No French press, no pods, no hassle.

Ingredients & Tools
- Coarsely ground coffee (ideal: coarse “channi” grind)
- Hot water (~93–94 °C / slightly off the boil)
- A tea strainer (channi) or fine mesh sieve
- Cup or mug
- Optional: Muslin cloth for finer filtration
⸻
Step‑by‑Step Brewing Instructions
- Measure ≈ 14–16 g coffee (≈ 2 Tbsp / 7–8 tsp) into your cup
- Bring water to a boil, then let it cool 1–1.5 min (≈ 93 °C)
- Pour ~130–250 ml hot water over the grounds. (Some recommend two pours: half, wait 30 sec; then top with the rest)
- Let brew for 4 minutes—this works well for light/medium roasts
- At the 4‑minute mark, stir gently about 10 times to break the crust and mix flavors
- Hold the channi over your serving mug and strain the brew slowly
- Add more hot water or milk as per taste if using less water initially
Brew Timing by Roast Level:
• Light / Medium roast → 4 minutes
• Medium‑dark / natural-processed → ~3:30 min
• Very dark roast → under 3:30 min

Tips for a Cleaner Cup:
If your brew feels gritty, try:
- Using a muslin cloth inside the channi.
- Opting for a slightly coarser grind.
- Always use freshly ground coffee for optimal aroma and flavour
- Clean your channi thoroughly to avoid old residue affecting taste
