French Press

French Press

The French press is a classic brewing method that produces a rich, full-bodied cup of coffee.

Equipment:

  • French press pot

  • Coarse ground coffee

  • Filtered water

    Method:

  1. Grind: Use a coarse grind, similar to sea salt.

  2. Heat Water: Heat filtered water to just off the boil (around 195-205°F or 90-96°C).

  3. Add Grounds: Add the desired amount of ground coffee to the French press pot. A general

ratio is 2 tablespoons of coffee for every 8 ounces of water.

  4. Bloom: Pour a small amount of hot water over the grounds to wet them evenly. Let it bloom

    for 30-45 seconds.

  5. Add Water: Pour the remaining hot water into the pot.

  6. Steep: Stir gently and let the coffee steep for 4 minutes.

  7. Press: Slowly press the plunger down, separating the coffee grounds from the brewed

    coffee.

  8. Pour and Enjoy: Pour the coffee into your mug and savor the rich, flavourful brew.
