The French press is a classic brewing method that produces a rich, full-bodied cup of coffee.
Equipment:
-
French press pot
-
Coarse ground coffee
-
Filtered water
Method:
-
Grind: Use a coarse grind, similar to sea salt.
-
Heat Water: Heat filtered water to just off the boil (around 195-205°F or 90-96°C).
-
Add Grounds: Add the desired amount of ground coffee to the French press pot. A general
ratio is 2 tablespoons of coffee for every 8 ounces of water.
-
Bloom: Pour a small amount of hot water over the grounds to wet them evenly. Let it bloom
for 30-45 seconds.
-
Add Water: Pour the remaining hot water into the pot.
-
Steep: Stir gently and let the coffee steep for 4 minutes.
-
Press: Slowly press the plunger down, separating the coffee grounds from the brewed
coffee.
-
Pour and Enjoy: Pour the coffee into your mug and savor the rich, flavourful brew.
